What I’m weighing up

Both schools have fewer permanent exclusions, but they’ve got there in different ways. Northgate seems to be suspending the same pupils again and again. I want to be sure suspensions aren’t quietly replacing exclusions.

  • At Northgate, a small group of pupils have three or more suspensions this term — the same names keep coming up
  • Eastbridge added earlier support and a clear return-to-school plan
  • We still haven’t heard from any pupils or families
“A parent stopped me at the gate — she felt her son’s suspension was unfair.”— from the Northgate head, this week
