Are suspensions replacing permanent exclusions?

What I’m weighing up
Both schools have fewer permanent exclusions, but they’ve got there in different ways. Northgate seems to be suspending the same pupils again and again. I want to be sure suspensions aren’t quietly replacing exclusions.
- At Northgate, a small group of pupils have three or more suspensions this term — the same names keep coming up
- Eastbridge added earlier support and a clear return-to-school plan
- We still haven’t heard from any pupils or families
“A parent stopped me at the gate — she felt her son’s suspension was unfair.”— from the Northgate head, this week
